Applications open for Malaysian government’s 250 scholarships

The Department of Higher Education (DHE) opened applications for the 250 scholarship slots from the Malaysian government which was offered in January 2018 under Malaysia’s “Education Global Service”.

Malaysia’s Higher Education Ministry offered 500 scholarships, out of which 250 scholarship slots were opened for applications in February.

Out of the 250 slots announced this round, 10 slots are allocated for Diploma students, 190 slots for Degree students and 50 slots for Masters Degree. A 50 percent discount is provided for student’s tuition fees for the scholarship.

Although only Aircraft Engineering is offered for Diploma students, a number of options are available for Degree and Masters Degree students.

The scholarships are offered from 17 different universities, private and government.

According to the State Minister of Education, Dr. Abdulla Nazeer, a number of the students from the February batch has already commenced their studies under this scholarship programe.

Dr. Nazeer also highlighted that students can submit their applications via a special online portal and DHE office this time. Students will be informed if there are any issues such as missing documents, via text messages.

He added that for students lacking internet access, they can use the WiFi provided at the student lounge in Velaanaage, second floor.

Applications will be accepted until September 6.
