Guesthouse project to be implemented on a grand scale in Kaashidhoo

Ministry of Tourism (MOT) announces that the Ministry will lay foundation for a grand scale guesthouse project in Kaafu Kaashidhoo. The project will bring an enormous change to the island which is famous for it’s agriculture.

The project is managed by Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) who are mandated to support and foster the development and growth of the mid-market segment of the Tourism Industry. The foundation is to be laid by Minister of Tourism, Moosa Zameer.

Further details of the project are yet to be announced the company.

MITDC is responsible for the ongoing Baresdhoo project in Laamu atoll. Under this project, thirty guesthouses will be built, each guesthouse accommodating 25 – 50 rooms. It is estimated that the island will give service to approximately 5,000 tourists upon completion of the project.

Currently, private parties operate guesthouses in Kaashidhoo. In addition to this, local council has leased a land on the island to a private company to develop a city hotel.
