A Bangladeshi national was arrested while attempting to enter the Maldives with 3.69 kg of drugs.
Maldives Customs Service said the man was checked at Velana International Airport (VIA) upon his arrival due to suspicious behavior, and the drugs were discovered in his luggage.
According to customs, initial testing showed the substances were positive to Cannabis, a psychoactive recreational drug.
While the drugs weighed 3.69 kg, it’s street value would reach MVR 2,900,000, said Customs.
The man and the drugs have been handed over to Maldives Police Service.
Customs statistics show that 28.49 kg of drugs has been discovered and confiscated so far this year.
