St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Wins World’s Leading Luxury Island Resort Award

The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort has won the title of the World’s Leading Luxury Island Resort at the 24th World Travel Awards.

The award ceremony was held at the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay in Vietnam. Apart from the Leading Luxury Island award, St. Regis Maldives Vommuli also won the World’s Leading Luxury New Resort as well as World’s Leading Resort Design.

St. Regis Maldives Vommuli’s Spa, Iridium Spa also took home the World’s Best Spa design, Indian Ocean’s Best Resort Spa and Maldives’ Best Resort Spa respectively.

The 77-villa property is in the Dhaalu Atoll, 40 minutes from Male by seaplane and is designed by WOW Architects | Warner Wong Design out of Singapore; lagoon villas are shaped like manta rays, the signature bar is in the shape of a whale shark and there is a lobster-inspired spa and a spiral shell-shaped library.

Set to redefine the concept of barefoot luxury, the resort sprawls over nine hectares and it’s encircled by an unspoilt beach as well as lush natural vegetation. It features 33 on-land villas and 44 over water, including the John Jacob Astor Estate, the largest three-bedroom overwater villa in the country.

World Travel Awards are known as the Oscars of the Travel Industry and is recognized globally as the ultimate quality standard and industry benchmark.
