This year as part of “TATA Volunteer Week” under the theme “Let’s Go” Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Maldives hosted a lunch at the Children’s Centre for the kids and made a cash donation. The event was conducted on 04 th March 2019 and 20 Associates from TERS visited the Children’ Centre with a special menu in tow made by the kitchen team. The team also raised cash donations to the tune of MVR 16,376.
Home to more than 40 enthusiastic kids between the ages of 13-18 years, the Government of Maldives offers valuable service in taking care of these vulnerable children and going by the sheer zest for life and optimism that one feels amongst the kids, one comes away feeling a sense of pride.
The Taj Exotica team was in fact pleasantly surprised when they were welcomed by Ms. Shidhatha Shareef – the Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services personally along with the management of the center and staff of the Ministry. Unaiza Habeeb, the Director of the Children’s Centre made the welcome speech. The resort management and its associates were honored to be part of this noble cause and participated enthusiastically in serving the special to the kids, photo moments and handing over of the cash donation to the honorable Minister Shidhatha who received it on behalf of the Children’s Centre.
Minister Shidhatha shared her ideas for kids to have career guidance trips and internship opportunities at the resort which was wholeheartedly welcomed by Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Maldives. Vishal Singh, the General Manager of Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Maldives said, “We at the Taj and the house of Tatas are committed to collaborate with the center and conduct these programs for our young citizens. These children are our future and in
keeping with the community-first ethos of the Tata Group, it is our pleasure to be of service and help. We are keen to help the community and the government in this noble endeavour.”
The Taj Exotica Maldives team left Villingili in the afternoon, with smiles and a renewed promise to be back soon. This infectious happy spirit is often the secret sauce when it comes to the Taj’s legendary promise of serving the community with dignity.
