Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has reported an increase of flight operation in Velana International Airport (VIA) for 24th Feburary 2019.
As per MACL, a total of 219 flight movements were recorded on said day while the maximum flight movements previously recorded in VIA was 214 on the 6th of January 2019. These flight movements include 111 domestic flights, 93 international flights and 15 chartered flights according to MACL.
A billion dollar project is being carried out in order to develop and improve the facilities in VIA. This development project includes building a new runway, an international terminal, a seaplane terminal, a fuel farm and also a cargo complex. In addition to this, making more space for the parking of the planes is also a part of this mega project.
