For the month of January, the government has received a total of 69 million as an airport development fee. This is 3.8 percent of the total income received for the month.
Airport development fee is the fee taken from passengers traveling from 1st May 2017 onwards. This fee is taken at the rate of USD 25 from foreign passengers and USD 12 from local passengers.
According to the financial reports released by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority, this year’s airport development fee has increased by 12% in comparison to last year’s MVR 61.7 million as an airport development fee.
