Maldivian, the National Airline of Maldives, has received official permission to begin direct flights to Colombo Airport Ratmalana in Sri Lanka.
This decision resulted from a successful series of discussions between the two countries and came to fruition during Maldivian Minister of Tourism, Mr. Moosa Zameer’s visit to Sri Lanka where he met the Sri Lankan Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mr. Nimal Siripala de Silva. The two countries have agreed to collaborate to begin the flights at the earliest.
Mr. Moosa Zameer has stated that the initiation of direct flights to Colombo Airport Ratmalana, which is conveniently located in Colombo, will produce even more ease of travel for Maldivians. Sri Lanka, the closest neighboring country, is one of the most popular destinations for Maldivians for medical trips, holidays and higher studies.
