President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the ceremony held to mark the completion and handover of the K. Maafushi and K. Maafushi picnic island reclamation and shore protection project. The project was contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
Minister of Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam did the honor of officially handing over the completed reclamation and shore protection projects to the Maafushi Council. Two models were handed to the council resembling the design of the completed projects.
Furthermore, at the handover ceremony, MTCC has also signed an agreement with Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure towards K. Maafushi New Reclamation Connection Project. CEO Adam Azim signed on behalf of MTCC, and Ms. Zeeniya Hameed, Permanent Secretary signed on behalf of the Ministry.
Scope of works includes 80m shore protection and construction of a 20m wide, 137.64m long bridge. The bridge construction work includes; concrete works, paving works, drainage, metal works, lighting and road marking.
According to MTCC, the value of the project is MVR 35.41 million and the project is to be completed within 365 days.
