A solar grid of 35 kWp has been installed at the MWSC Operation Centre in R.Dhuvaafaru to increase electricity generation using renewable energy.
According to MWSC, the 35 kWp solar grid installed on Sunday is an addition to the 48 kWp solar grid that was installed at the Operations Centre back in 2013. With the new solar grid, MWSC will now be able to generate 83 kWp of clean energy in its Dhuvaafaru operations.
MWSC further stated that since 2012, renewable energy generated electricity has been used in various operations centres of the company in Male’, Hulhumale’, Maafushi and Dhuvaafaru as part of their efforts to reduce the dependence on oil. “It is our vision to provide safe water and sewerage services that are sustainable, affordable and environment friendly to everyone,” MWSC said in a tweet.
MWSC said that the company currently can generate up to 578 kWp of renewable energy.
