Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) is all set to launch the new lighter 2 Rufiyaa coins within this year. The second shipment of it has arrived now while the first shipment was brought 2 months ago. MMA stated that both the shipments are securely stored in the treasury.
MMA is also issuing the polymer note of 5 Rufiyaa which is also designed by Abdulla Nashaath who designed the notes of “Randhiha Faheh”; the new note series of Maldives which got released last year.
According to MMA they are all set to launch the new coins within this year.
