Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has recently begun physical work on the Sh. Narudhoo Harbour Development Project on May 4th, 2023.
The primary focus of the project is the development of the harbour basin, which will require 51,212 cubic meters of dredging operations. Additionally, the channel will need 4,120 cubic meters of dredging operations to be performed.
Apart from dredging operations, the project includes the construction of a 371-meter breakwater, a 205-meter revetment, and a 210-meter quay wall. These structures will help protect the harbour and provide a safe and secure area for ships to dock.
Meanwhile, the installation of 955 square meters of harbour pavement and the construction of a ramp will further facilitate safe and efficient movement of goods and people. The project will also include the installation of harbour lights, which are essential for safe navigation during night-time operations.
The total value of the Sh. Narudhoo Harbor Development Project is MVR 41.34 million, which represents a significant investment in the region’s infrastructure.
