Villa College was awarded the QS Stars Rating for Excellence, a recognition revealed today at the 4th VC Networking Breakfast held at Villa College QI Campus Hall, attended by industry leaders from private, public, and government sectors.
The welcome and introductory remarks were delivered by Nizna Ali Didi, Director, Marketing & Communications of Villa College. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude to our industry partners for their presence and highlighted the launching of the Villa College Job Portal.
This was then followed by the Launching of the Villa College Job Portal by Dr. Ahmed Anwar, Rector of Villa College. The job portal is an added benefit for our alumni, which would significantly increase the employability of Villa College Graduates.
Next, the Guest of Honour, The Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan, reveals the highly anticipated “Something Big”. This was the revealing of the news that Villa College has been rated for excellence in the QS Stars Ranking System.
Villa College has been awarded four stars overall and received five stars which is the maximum possible rating in 3 categories, which includes online learning, employability and environmental impact. Notably, Villa College is the first and only institute in the Maldives to receive a QS Stars rating.
The QS Stars University rating system is an internationally recognised quality standard. QS Stars offers a thorough and independent framework for evaluating and contrasting the performance of universities across a wide range of criteria.
In the QS Stars methodology, universities undergo assessment in numerous indicators spanning at least seven categories. Following the assessment, universities receive an overall Stars rating ranging from 0 to 5+, based on the points earned during the evaluation.
A university attaining a four-star rating has garnered global acknowledgement and adheres to international standards. Such institutions, recognized for excellence, draw in international students and faculty, fostering an environment conducive to advanced learning and development. In the QS Stars rating system, their performance is classified as “Very Good.”
After an address by the Guest of Honour, The Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan, Dr. Ali Najeeb, ended the event with his closing remarks by thanking his staff and applauding the unwavering commitment and dedication shown in achieving this significant milestone.
He also highlighted how this achievement is not only an achievement for Villa College but also for the country.
