Maldives-EU Partnership: Fifth Senior Officials Meeting Begins Today

The 5th Maldives—European Union (EU) Senior Officials Meeting is taking place today at the Maldives’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting aims to foster open and constructive dialogue between the Maldives and the EU.

This year’s meeting will address critical issues, including enhanced collaboration on democratic reforms, green transition, climate change mitigation and adaptation, good governance, judiciary reforms, and security. Additionally, the meeting will review the outcomes of current initiatives to explore further cooperation opportunities.

Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya will lead the Maldives delegation. Senior officials from various governmental bodies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, the Attorney General’s Office, the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, National Counter Terrorism Center, MNDF Coast Guard, Maldives Police Service, and the National Reintegration Center, will participate.

The delegation, which will represent the European Union, will be led by Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the European External Action Service.
