MMPRC Showcases Destination Maldives at JOTC Webinar

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) presented the latest promotions and updates from Destination Maldives during a series of webinars hosted by the Japan Outbound Tourism Council (JOTC). The JOTC, a division of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), organized these webinars to promote various travel destinations to the Japanese travel trade industry.

The series, which included four webinars, aimed to enhance the communication and cooperation between JATA and international tourism organizations. The Maldives participated in the first session on 30th and 31st May 2024, where MMPRC showcased new travel information and guidelines to inspire Japanese travel professionals to expand their Maldives offerings.

Participation: The webinar targeted approximately 300 travel professionals and trade media representatives. The 25-minute session was held on Zoom and participation was free of charge.

Content: MMPRC presented the latest updates and travel guidelines for the Maldives, aiming to inspire and inform Japanese travel professionals. The goal was to maintain and strengthen the Maldives’ presence in the Japanese market.

Strategies: MMPRC outlined several strategies to capitalize on the positive trend of increasing arrivals from Japan since the pandemic. These include:

• Ambient outdoor advertising in major Japanese cities.

• Social media campaigns in Japanese.

• Utilising Japanese-speaking staff and guests in social media promotions.

• Promoting the Maldives as a chic and high-end destination.

• Focused advertising and promotion of various products and experiences.

Future Initiatives

In line with these strategies, MMPRC plans to participate in Tourism Expo Japan (TEJ) 2024, the leading travel expo in Japan. This participation aims to further showcase the Maldives’ unique offerings and attract more Japanese tourists.
