Thulusdhoo Council Reopens Bids for 100-Bed Hospital and Medical College Development

Kaafu Atoll Thulusdhoo Council has re-announced its search for developers to establish a 100-bed hospital and medical college on the island, after the initial round of bidding failed to select a suitable contractor.

In July, the council had called for bids for the project, seeking experienced parties to build and operate the hospital and medical college. However, none of the submitted applications met the necessary criteria, prompting a re-announcement of the opportunity on Tuesday.

The council’s latest announcement offers the land for long-term lease to interested parties who will finance, construct, and operate both the hospital and medical college independently. The project is expected to address the growing healthcare and education needs of the region, offering essential medical services and training future healthcare professionals.

Bidders must submit their proposals by 13:00 hrs on October 13, 2024. A bidding book, containing all the necessary project details and requirements, can be purchased from the council for MVR 2,000.

This re-announcement gives developers a fresh opportunity to contribute to a critical infrastructure project that will have long-term benefits for the island and surrounding communities.
