Ooredoo Maldives Donates MVR 16 Million Worth of Medical Equipment to Air Ambulance Service

Ooredoo Maldives has reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare in the Maldives by donating specialised medical equipment worth MVR 16 million to enhance the capabilities of the national Air Ambulance service. This donation is part of Ooredoo’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, with healthcare being a central pillar.

The Air Ambulance service, which launched on 1 March 2024 with Ooredoo’s support, has proven to be a vital resource for those in urgent need of medical assistance. Since its inception, the service has handled 436 cases and transported 517 patients to receive the care they required. Ooredoo’s initial contribution of essential equipment was key to the successful launch of the service.

Building on this foundation, Ooredoo Maldives has now provided additional specialised equipment to further enhance the Air Ambulance’s life-saving capabilities. This new batch of equipment is designed to improve patient care and expand the service’s ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies across the country.

“At Ooredoo Maldives, we firmly believe in the power of partnerships to meet the most urgent needs of our communities. Healthcare is a fundamental right, and we are proud to collaborate with the government to deliver life-saving initiatives like the air ambulance service. Our investment of close to 16 million Rufiyaa underscores our commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of location, can access critical care when they need it. Together, we are building a healthier, more resilient nation by standing with our communities, driving healthcare innovation, and investing in impactful solutions,” said Khalid Al Hamadi, CEO of Ooredoo Maldives.

Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, also highlighted the importance of the donation, stating: “Today’s handover stands as a testament to what is possible when businesses prioritise humanity. By investing in our healthcare, you’re investing in a future where every Maldivian knows they are cared for, valued, and protected. You have set a gold standard for corporate social responsibility, one that we hope will inspire others to step forward for the common good.”

The Air Ambulance service, equipped with state-of-the-art medical devices, has been instrumental in providing timely interventions and emergency care to critically ill patients. With the additional equipment, the service is expected to further improve its operations and bring life-saving care to more people in need.

Ooredoo Maldives remains committed to supporting the well-being of communities across the Maldives.
