MACL Launches ‘MACL Career 2024’ to Guide School Students Towards Aviation Careers

The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched a career guidance initiative, “MACL Career 2024,” aimed at educating school children about the wide array of job opportunities available within the company. The first event of the program was held today at Ghaazee School as part of MACL’s ongoing social responsibility efforts to promote career awareness among students.

The key objective of “MACL Career 2024” is to provide students with essential information about career prospects in the aviation industry and airport operations, helping them make informed decisions about their future professional paths.

Speaking at the launch event, MACL’s CEO and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, emphasised the company’s commitment to developing technically skilled professionals for the future. He underlined the importance of students understanding the broad spectrum of opportunities that MACL offers. Unlike many airports, Velana International Airport functions as a self-contained community, with municipal services and various industries beyond traditional airport operations within the island. This, Shareef noted, makes MACL a unique company with career paths across multiple sectors. He hopes to see more Maldivians contributing to the company across all fields.

Ghaazee School Principal Basheera Mohamed also addressed the students at the event, stressing the importance of being aware of job market opportunities after leaving school. She commended MACL’s efforts to strengthen ties between schools and society, describing the event as a reflection of the company’s dedication to nation-building. Principal Basheera expressed her appreciation to MACL’s management and staff for providing this opportunity to the students.

The “MACL Career 2024” initiative will take place in two sessions. A raffle will be held during each session, with 20 students selected to gain firsthand experience of MACL’s work environment. Additionally, ten students will receive gifts during the event.

This initiative represents a significant step towards guiding students in their career planning and offering them a closer look at opportunities in the aviation sector. It is expected to lay the groundwork for more informed career choices in the future while fostering greater awareness of the wide-ranging roles available within MACL.
