MMPRC Launches Nationwide Landmark Design Competition to Showcase Maldivian Heritage

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has announced a nationwide competition inviting Maldivians over the age of 18 to design landmarks to be installed in iconic locations, including Velana International Airport, Male’ City, underwater sites, and various islands across the Maldives. The initiative aims to celebrate the unique charm of the Maldives while enhancing the tourist experience and spotlighting local artistic talent.

Entrants are encouraged to create landmark designs that embody the essence of the Maldives, reflecting the cultural heritage, natural beauty, and regional uniqueness of each designated location. The top 10 designs will be selected through a combination of evaluations by a panel of judges and a public vote. Each winning designer will receive MVR 20,000, a gift package from competition sponsors, and their work will be prominently featured in MMPRC’s marketing efforts.

Designs are to be sustainably crafted with a maximum height of 20 feet and should reflect the historical and cultural significance of each location. Safety, durability, and visual appeal will be key criteria in the selection process. Entries must be submitted by 6:00 PM on 30th November 2024, and each participant may submit a design for one landmark, providing both CAD and PDF format dimensions along with a completed application form.

The competition presents a unique opportunity for Maldivians to contribute to the nation’s tourism landscape and brand identity, while also capturing the imagination of international visitors. MMPRC’s initiative underscores the ongoing commitment to positioning the Maldives as a premier tourist destination with a vibrant and authentic cultural narrative.
