Maldivian, the national airline, has entered a partnership with the Maldives Hajj Corporation to facilitate the air travel of Hajj pilgrims this year. A ceremony was held today at the Islamic Center, attended by the Honourable Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed to mark this milestone. The agreement was signed by the Managing Director of Island Aviation Services Limited, Ibrahim Iyas, and the Managing Director of Hajj Corporation, Mohamed Shakeel.
This partnership will enable the travel of 500 pilgrims from the Maldives, representing fifty percent of the quota assigned to the government of Maldives by Saudi Arabia. These flights will be facilitated by the newest addition to the Maldivian fleet – the Airbus A330.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Island Aviation Services Limited, Ibrahim Iyas, highlighted that this important milestone was achieved through the support of the government, which facilitated the induction of the widebody aircraft, which has significantly contributed to the expansion of the Maldivian network globally.
