The Air Service World Congress has officially commenced in the Maldives, bringing together numerous international dignitaries from the aviation industry. The annual forum, scheduled from July 9 to July 11, is being held at Kurumba Maldives.
Three resorts have been designated to host various activities during the congress. The welcoming event took place on July 9 at the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa, with 150 representatives from 27 airlines and 17 airports, including local airlines, participating in this grand event.
During the opening event, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), highlighted the critical importance of hosting global meetings and conferences. Shareef also provided insights into the ongoing development projects at Velana International Airport (VIA).
Mike Howarth, Chairman of Global Travel Investment, praised the Maldives as a beautiful destination and expressed confidence in the nation experiencing a boost in tourism due to the congress.
A special networking event is set to be held at the SAii Lagoon Maldives in CROSSROADS. The inaugural ceremony and the closing ceremony will be held at Kurumba Maldives.
The Air Service World Congress will provide valuable information on the growing aviation industry in the Maldives, with input from other participating nations. This will create numerous opportunities for both the government and private enterprises to advance the industry further.
VIA was announced as the official host of the event, following the successful conclusion of the Air Service World Congress 2023 in Oakland, San Francisco Bay Area. Since its inception in 2010, the congress has been held in several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Dubai.
