Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has confirmed that the asphalt installation on roads linking to the bridge will begin next week.
A section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, from Hulhumale ferry terminal to Male’ Industrial village has been closed off to the public for the works. With sewerage system installed, workers are currently working on getting the roads ready for asphalt.
“Even now several important works tied to the project are underway and we expect asphalt installation will commence and conclude faster than our projected timeline,” said Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure’s media consultant Ahmed Fazaal.
This section of road will have two lanes wider than the older road. With pavements for pedestrians being stretched wider as well, the ministry will be planting trees on either side of the road.
