BCC Launches Campaign to Showcase Local Products

The Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has launched the “Dhiveheennah Iskan” campaign. The initiative, inaugurated by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, aims to generate awareness and encourage the purchase of Maldivian goods.

The campaign revolves around an eco-friendly twist on gift-giving. Participants receive a locally-made product in sustainable packaging and are then encouraged to pass the gift along to someone else using the same bag. The exchange is documented and shared on social media, with both the BCC and the product’s manufacturer tagged, increasing exposure.

“This campaign taps into our strong tradition of gift-giving, but with a focus on celebrating our own talented creators,” noted Minister Saeed at the launch. “This has the potential to be a tremendous boost for Maldivian businesses.”

The BCC emphasizes that the campaign is open to a wide range of products, from delicious foods to handcrafted items, highlighting the diversity of Maldivian craftsmanship. To further incentivize participation, the BCC is offering a 10% discount on all purchases at the Authentic Maldives store in the capital city, Malé, throughout the campaign, which runs until April 16th.

The “Dhiveheennah Iskan” campaign reflects a growing emphasis on supporting local economies and sustainable practices within the Maldives, a nation heavily reliant on tourism and seeking to diversify its economic base.
