BCC Renames and Expands Hiyala Market, Opens Kiosks for Year-Long Lease

The Business Center Corporation (BCC) has announced the renaming of the “Hiyala Weekend Market” to the “Hiyala Market” and has opened its kiosks for lease for a period of one year. This initiative aims to provide additional business opportunities for women entrepreneurs.

The Hiyala Market, an initiative of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, was established to support and empower female entrepreneurs by offering them a platform to showcase and sell their products. With the renaming to “Hiyala Market” and its opening for daily commercial use, the market is set to become a significant hub for women’s entrepreneurship in the Maldives.

The BCC has opened the kiosks for lease for one year, providing more opportunities for women entrepreneurs to establish and expand their businesses. This move is expected to be a substantial boost for women-led enterprises, offering them a stable and supportive environment to flourish. The deadline for submitting applications for kiosk leases is Tuesday, 9 June 2024, at 16:00.
