Bank of Maldives has announced that it will provide payment capability for the new passport card which is being issued to Maldivian citizens. The new card was officially launched by the President of Maldives, H.E. Abdulla Yameen, at a ceremony held at the President’s Office today.
The passport card, in addition to being an internationally valid identity document, can be linked to the holder’s bank account with BML, thereby facilitating payments and the withdrawal of cash both locally and overseas.
Bank of Maldives CEO and Managing Director, Andrew Healy commented, “We are delighted to have partnered with Maldives Immigration in the development of this new, secure and innovative passport card. Maldivian citizens will now have an internationally acceptable identity card which can also be used to support payments and cash withdrawals.”
