CAA Staff Petition President Over Salary Framework Issue

Staff of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have submitted a petition to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, expressing concerns over salary payments that did not reflect changes introduced under a new employment framework. The petition follows the disbursement of January salaries, which were calculated based on the previous framework, despite a revised structure coming into effect at the beginning of the year.

According to the petition, the new employment framework was approved by the CAA board and signed by all staff before taking effect on January 1, 2025. However, employees were informed after receiving their salaries that the authority had transitioned to the new framework without obtaining all necessary permits from the relevant authorities.

The staff underscored the critical role of the CAA in ensuring the safety and security of the Maldivian aviation industry, as well as overseeing its regulatory functions. They have requested a meeting with the President to discuss the matter and address their concerns.
