The Minister of Economic Development Mr. Mohamed Saeed has revealed that China and Maldives will sign a Free Trade Agreement in June 2017.

According to the Minister, the dialogue and negotiations have been concluded for the agreement already, and the only remaining item is to finalize the legal text from both governments. One of the main objectives of the free trade agreement between Maldives and China is to allow Maldives to export fish and fish products to China duty-free. The agreement will remove the duty from approximately 400 different products being exported to China from Maldives.
