The Coastal Rowing Beach Sprint 2021 competition by Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) was held at Addu City from 11th to 14th November.
This event was sponsored by MWSC and the closing ceremony of this competition was honored by the presence of the Managing Director of MWSC, Mr. Hassan Shah as the chief guest. Additionally, the previous parliament member of Bilehdhoo constituent, Al-Usthaaz Ahmed Hamza, previous deputy mayor of Addu City, Mr. Mohamed Yasrif, President of rowing association of Maldives, Mr. Ahmed Habeeb and senior members of schools and students took part in the closing ceremony of the event.
A total of 5 schools, 150 students, 80 teachers, 4 clubs, and 20 athletes competed in this competition. The winners of the competition were given medals and certificates by the chief guest of the closing ceremony, Mr. Hassan Shah.
The long term goal of this event is to teach and improve rowing skills among children and youths that will be able to compete in international competitions. Furthermore, the participants of this event will be given the opportunity to take part in Asian Coastal Championship in 2022.
