Dhiraagu has celebrated the successful completion of its Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme. The graduation ceremony was a momentous occasion, marking the achievements of 13 apprentices who received their certificates, symbolising their hard work and dedication. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, alongside other notable attendees such as the Minister of State for Homeland Security and Technology, Dr. Mohamed Kinaanath, members of the Dhiraagu board and senior management, and heads of educational institutions.
The Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme, a cornerstone of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, holds the distinction of being the first corporate apprenticeship programme in the Maldives. Since its inception in 2009, the programme has seen over 268 Maldivian youth participate, demonstrating Dhiraagu’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of skilled professionals. The ceremony also welcomed the 14th batch of the programme, with 21 new apprentices embarking on their journey.
This programme focuses on developing employability skills among Maldivian youth. It offers a blend of structured training, soft skills development, and hands-on experience across various core business areas of Dhiraagu. This approach not only equips apprentices with practical skills but also provides them with a vital pathway towards a successful career. Participants have the opportunity to work in Malé as well as in various Dhiraagu Regional Operations Centers throughout the nation, thereby gaining a comprehensive understanding of the company’s operations.
In his address, Ali Ihusaan, the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, lauded the achievements of the graduates and recognised Dhiraagu as a leading entity in the national CSR landscape. He emphasised the programme’s importance in enhancing the skills and development of Maldivian youth.
Ismail Rasheed, CEO & MD of Dhiraagu, extended his congratulations to the graduates and his best wishes to the new apprentices. He stressed the importance of empowering youth and offering them opportunities for growth and development, aligning with Dhiraagu’s vision of creating a digitally inclusive and sustainable ‘Digital Raajje’. He also highlighted the success stories of many past graduates who have established successful careers within Dhiraagu and other companies across the Maldives.
The Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme stands as a testament to the company’s ongoing efforts to empower the youth, enrich their lives, and foster the development of future leaders in the Maldives.
