Dhiraagu Special Sports Festival held by Dhiraagu

An annual festival for disabled kids, “Dhiraagu Special Sports Festival” was held by Dhiraagu on 8th November at the Henveyru pitch.

Dhiraagu Special Sports Festival is the only festival in Maldives held for the disabled kids and it is also the event with the highest participation from the disabled kids in the country. This year 300 kids participated in the festival.

Since 2011, this festival has been held annually by the leading telecommunication service provider in Maldives. This is an important event under the company’s CSR initiative for disabled kids.

The main aim of this festival is to make sure that every child in the community is involved in social activities. It also aims to empower the kids, make them believe in themselves and embed the spirit of sports.

In this year’s festival, Maldives Association for People With Physical Disabilities, Beautiful Eyes, Downs Syndrome Association, Care Society, Maldives Autism Association, Jamaluddin School, Ameer Ahmed School, Imaduddin School, Galholhu Madharusa, Muhyiddin School, Ghaazee School, Hiriya School, Billabong High International, Thaajuddeen School, Iskandhar School and Aminiya school participated.

Games such as ball rolling, goal shooting, obstacle relay, tunnel race and baton relay were played during the festival.
