As part of their corporate social responsibility, Dhiraagu has been providing a special Add-On which would enable the Blind & Visually Impaired Society of Maldives (BVISM) to use Dhiraagu’s conference calling- Phone Meeting service for free of charge for BVISM, who advocate for the rights of the blind and visually impaired. The telecommunications company has once again renewed the service which they had started providing in 2016.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Dhiraagu and BVISM took place at a special ceremony at Dhiraagu Head Office. CEO/MD of Dhiraagu, Mr. Ismail Rasheed signed on behalf of the company whilst Goodwill Ambassador for BVISM, Ms Mariyam Waheeda signed on behalf of the NGO.
The digital service provided by Dhiraagu to the BVISM is specially catered for them. BVISM members are able to make free phone meetings under this service. The NGO stated that members of BVISM face even more difficulties in managing an NGO compared to other NGOs. The phone meeting service provided by Dhiraagu has made it very convenient for us to hold our meetings.
Hosting 200 people at one venue turns out to be a difficult task and sometimes members miss out meetings due to other commitments which they cannot reschedule. Due to the digital service provided by Dhiraagu, members can attend meetings irrespective of the venue, making it easier for everyone in the organization to connect and communicate with each other.
In addition to holding meetings, recitation of Quran, religious sermons and training programs are being held through this service for the blind and visually impaired
Other than this, recitation of Quran, religious Sermon and other training programmes are also being held through this service. BVISM has held classes to teach maths, latin and quran through this digital service. As a result of a digital meeting platform, blind and visually impaired kids from across the nation now have access to these training classes.
Dhiraagu has not only boosted the motivation for people who fight for the rights of blind and visually impaired persons, but the company has been a great deal of help towards making the society a more inclusive one for the blind and visually impaired.
