The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives) has appointed Dr. Mohamed Mahid Shareef as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 13th October 2024. Dr. Mahid brings over 20 years of experience in public administration, higher education, and strategic development to his new role.
Throughout his career, Dr. Mahid has held prominent positions, including serving as Permanent Secretary in two government ministries and as Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Maldives. His extensive expertise in governance, finance, and infrastructure management is expected to drive the institute’s mission of advancing the accounting profession in the country.
Dr. Mahid’s academic achievements are equally impressive. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration, a master’s in Public Sector Management, and an Executive Master’s in Sports Organisation Management (MEMOS). Additionally, he has earned a Bachelor of Engineering (Information and Electronics) alongside diplomas in Sports Management, Business Management/Administration, and Accounting in Business and Management.
CA Maldives, established on 8th September 2020 following the ratification of the Chartered Accountants Act, is the country’s legally recognised professional accountancy organisation. Dr. Mahid’s appointment is anticipated to further strengthen the institute’s commitment to enhancing the standards and development of the accountancy profession in the Maldives.
