The initiative comes as part of efforts to bolster the legal framework safeguarding intellectual property rights in the Maldives, aligning with the objectives outlined in the administration’s agenda during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s term in office.
The primary objective of the bill is to establish a registration system for Maldivian businesses, aiming to foster a more conducive environment for commerce and entrepreneurship within the nation. Additionally, the bill seeks to enforce regulations outlined within it, ensuring accountability and protection of individuals’ rights.
Stakeholders and the general public are encouraged to contribute their suggestions and comments on the proposed bill. Feedback can be submitted to the Ministry via email at legal@trade.gov.mv, with the deadline set for 14:00 on the 14th of April 2024.
