Formed in October 1999, Maldives Gas Pvt Ltd is a public private partnership between the State Trading Organization (PLC) and Champa Oil and Gas Pvt Ltd. The company is in the business of supplying LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) cooking gas to the public and controls about 65% of the market share. The Organization conveys LPG for households as well as resorts and supplies medical gas to more than 95 percent of healthcare facilities throughout the nation. As the sole supplier of Medical gas, the company supplies to medical centers situated tactically in the Maldives. The company has an Oxygen plant in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital to cater the medical oxygen requirement of the largest hospital in the Maldives. Additionally, MGPL has installed an oxygen plant in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi Hospital in order to cater medical oxygen to HA, HDh and Sh. atoll and is looking eagerly to expand the service. MGPL owns and operates a total of four Conveying terminals in the Greater Male’ region
