Government fixed a maximum price that can be charged for a taxi journey from Male’ to Hulhumale’

The government set a fixed price that a taxi can charge for crossing Sinamale’ Bridge. The public announcement was made by the Transport Authority of Maldives.

Authority stated that actions will be taken against any driver who charges higher than the amount that has been decided by the Transport Authority.

Prior to the announcement, taxi drivers had been charging rates between MVR 150-200 for crossing the bridge.

Maximum fares set by the Transport Authority are:

Car Taxi

– Within Male’- MVR 25
– Within Hulhumale’- MVR 25
– From Male’ to Hulhule’ and vice versa- MVR 35
– From Hulhumale’ to Hulhule’ and vice versa- MVR 35
– From Male’ to Hulhumale’ and vice versa- MVR 40
– Extra MVR 5 can be charged if the journey is made after 00:00 to 06:00 and if luggage is loaded.

Motorcycle Taxi

– Within Male’- MVR 10
– Within Hulhumale’- MVR 10
– From Male’ to Hulhule’ and vice versa- MVR 15
– From Hulhumale’ to Hulhule’ and vice versa- MVR 15
– From Male’ to Hulhumale’ and vice versa- MVR 20
