Green Tax Collected Decreases by 6%

Tourists in Maldives

The amount collected by Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) as green tax has gone down by 6% in comparison to the first quarter of 2018. 241.5 million rufiyaa was collected by MIRA in the first three months of 2019, as per statistics released by MIRA.

The decrease occurred due to a tax collection delay under the tax enforcement policy, according to MIRA. Even though tax received by tourists had gone up by 9.6%, due to a delay in collection, most of the green tax was not collected by the deadline.
