Has China’s biggest online news site revealed ‘real’ coronavirus death figures?

According to Taiwan News, “Tencent… seems to have inadvertently released what is potentially the actual number of infections and deaths, which were astronomically higher than official figures”.

Tencent, the second largest company in China, allegedly listed figures for the coronavirus on Saturday showing 154,023 were infected and 24,589 dead – more than ten times and 80 times the official figures respectively.

But the website swiftly updated its ‘Epidemic Situation Tracker‘ to reflect the official figures of 14,446 infected and 304 dead, internet users accused.

Also, the number of suspected cases is also four times the official figure. If the figures published from Tencent are correct then the mortality rate of coronavirus will be almost 16% while SARS’ mortality rate is 9.6%.

According to sources, many coronavirus patients die without getting any treatment. And also there are cases that Wuhan officials cremate deceased before they could be included in the official death tolls.
