Hoadedhdhoo Council Announces Resort Development Opportunity on Kandevarehaa Island

The GDh. Hoadedhdhoo council has announced plans to develop an integrated tourist resort on the island of Kandevarehaa. The council has opened bidding for interested parties, marking a significant step toward expanding tourism in the region.

Potential bidders can purchase the bid book and obtain further details between the 31st of March and the 30th of April. A virtual pre-bid meeting will take place via Zoom on the 7th of May, with proposals due by the 2nd of June.

Kandevarehaa is located within the same lagoon as Hoadedhdhoo, making it the nearest neighbouring island at approximately 750 meters away. The Ministry of Tourism previously explored a resort development opportunity on the island in 2021, setting an acquisition cost of USD 700,000.

The Hoadedhdhoo council initiated efforts for a resort development on Kandevarehaa in 2022, engaging in consultations with the Ministry, local guesthouse businesses, and broader tourism industry stakeholders.
