Hoadedhoo Council Seeks Developers for Resort Project at Kan’devarehaa Island

GDh. Hoadedhoo Council has announced that it is seeking interested parties to develop a resort at Kan’devarehaa, an uninhabited island in the atoll. The 4.6-hectare island falls under the jurisdiction of the Hoadedhoo Council and presents a prime opportunity for resort development in the region.

As per the official announcement gazetted on Tuesday, both local and foreign parties eligible to develop a resort are invited to submit their expression of interest for the project. The bidding documents will be available for purchase from 9:00am to 1:00pm on all days except government holidays, until 17th November 2024.

A pre-bid meeting is scheduled to take place virtually via Zoom at 1:00pm on 15th October 2024, where more detailed information will be provided to interested parties. Those wishing to participate in this session are required to email the Council at info@hoandedhdhoo.gov.mv with their name, email address, and phone number before 2:00pm on 13th October 2024.

The final submission of proposals is slated for 1:30pm on 24th November 2024. Interested parties can direct further inquiries to the Hoadedhoo Council via email.

Kan’devarehaa is located in close proximity to Hoadedhoo, within the same lagoon, making it an ideal site for tourism development. This is not the first time the island has been considered for resort development; the Ministry of Tourism previously sought developers for the island in 2021.

The Council’s move to seek developers for Kan’devarehaa aligns with the broader efforts to boost tourism and economic development in the region.
