Israeli Products Should Not Be in Maldives: Economic Minister

Economic Minister of Maldives, Fayyaz Ismail has stated that except for certain healthcare products imported under a special permit, there must not be any products from Israel imported into the country.

The Israeli–Palestinian conflict is an ongoing violent struggle between Israelis and Palestinians centered around the Gaza strip. Many around the world have called for the boycott of Israeli products, including in the Maldives.

Minister Fayyaz stated that the imports of Israeli products into the country is banned, and any Israeli products sold in the Maldives is being done illegally.

He added that the only exception to this rule was the import of certain healthcare and medical items from Israel, which are imported under a special permit issued for that very reason.
