Japan grants medical equipment worth USD 2.8 million

Japanese Ambassador to Maldives Keiko Yanai handed over medical equipment worth approximately USD 2.8 million to Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen.

Medical equipment grants include four diagnostic ultrasound systems, a mobile digital x-ray system, a ventilator, a transportable incubator, five defibrillators, five dental units, five dental autoclaves, and five dental x-ray film developers.

This ceremony was held in the State Electronic Company (STELCO) on 27th August 2019.

This donation is under ‘The Economic and Social Development Programme’ that was signed between two governments in June 2018. The aim of this grant is to enhance the Maldivian health sector.

Embassy of Japan in the Maldives expressed their best wishes stating that “the government and people of Japan hope that this grant will contribute to the development of the health sector”.
