Kudahuvadhoo to Become Logistics Hub with New Port Development

The government has officially handed over a project to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) for the development of a port in Dhaalu Atoll Kudahuvadhoo.

During a ceremony held on the island, the agreement was signed by Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed and newly appointed MPL CEO Mohamed Rishwan.

According to MPL, the Kuda Huvadhoo port will primarily facilitate port-to-port logistics, positioning the island as a distribution hub and contributing to its economic development. The company also announced plans to establish a bonded warehouse on the island and introduce additional services related to the port.

Kudahuvadhoo is among the seven islands selected by the government for development as urban centres, as part of broader efforts to decentralise economic opportunities.
