Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has recently announced that low-interest loans to build houses in the inhabited islands will be available soon.
The Deputy Minister of Housing, Mr. Ali Shamin stated that discussions with different banks on releasing such loans are going on and more information on this will be publicized soon.
As providing housing for the public was among the new new governments vows for their 5-year term, the loans are planned to be issued at 5-6 percent interest rates.
To conclude the discussions, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Aminath Athifa met up with the Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Mr. Ahmed Naseer.
