On 1st December 2018, LUX* South Ari Atoll Team became the first ever resort to pledge and join Maldives Associaton of Tourism Professionals on their campaign to ban single-use plastic items.
Considered as one of the leading sustainable and CSR practices resort in the Maldives, LUX* South Ari Atoll is already running several campaigns to ban single-use plastics including the ban of plastic straws, single-use plastics bags, single-use bottles of other purposes across the resort.
This launch and event took place during a historic event as LUX* launched their Solar hybrid power system in partnership with SWIMSOL. LUX* South Ari Atoll plans to ban single use plastics by the end of 2019 including all plastics bottles even in Team Village area.
ATP notes the support received by the team at LUX, especially that of the Regional Director of Training, Development and Quality, Mr. Afeef Hussain, who has assured that LUX will continue in it’s efforts to minimize their carbon footprints.
