MACL and MTCC Ink Deal for R. Fainu Airport Development

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) have signed an agreement for the development of R. Fainu Airport, marking a significant step towards improving regional connectivity and boosting tourism in the atoll.

Under the agreement, MTCC will undertake feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments (EIA), and design work for the airport’s development. The project is aligned with the government’s broader vision for national development, representing a substantial investment in the country’s travel and tourism sector.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ibrahim Falah, Leader of the People’s National Congress Parliamentary Group and Member of Parliament for Inguraidhoo Constituency, highlighted the project’s importance for the region. He stated that the airport would not only benefit the residents of Raa Atoll but also contribute to the country’s tourism sector and overall economic growth.

MACL’s CEO and Managing Director, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the project, stating that MACL would work closely with MTCC to ensure its timely completion. MTCC also pledged to deliver the project on schedule, reinforcing its role in supporting the nation’s infrastructure expansion.

The development of R. Fainu Airport is expected to enhance accessibility to the atoll, supporting local businesses and facilitating tourism growth in the region.
