On 15th November 2022, Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives was admitted as a member of the Asian Oceanian Setters Group (AOSSG) at the Annual AOSSG Meeting held in Nepal.
Pursuant to the Act (13/2020), CA Maldives is the legal body mandated to regulate and set accounting and auditing standards. To aid in the development of the accounting profession in the Maldives, CA Maldives acts as the nation’s official representative organisation.
The AOSSG is a group of Accounting Standard Setters in the Asian-Oceanian region formed in 2009 to discuss issues and share experiences on the adoption of IFRS and to contribute to the development of high-quality global accounting standards.
There are 27 member organizations of AOSSG including member organizations from Australia, China, India, Japan, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand. With Maldives becoming a member, this number is now 28.
As a member of AOSSG, CA Maldives will be working closely with the standard setters of the member countries to strengthen the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the Maldives.
On behalf of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives, the Vice President of CA Maldives, Mr. Hassan Mohamed attended the membership awarding ceremony and AOSSG 14th Board meeting in Kathmandu, Nepal.
