The world’s most prestigious travel awards, hosted at the Sun Siyam Irufushi, World Travel Awards, has concluded with the Maldives taking home the awards for best beaches, spa and dive destination in the world.
Some of the awards won by the Maldives include
- Most popular Water Villas: Sun Aqua Vilu Reef
- Most Popular Airport Hotel: Hulhule Island Hotel (HIH)
- Best Private Island: Coco Island Resort
- Best underwater Restaurent: Anantara Kihaavah
- Most Romantic Resort: Baros Maldives
Along with the awards for the destinations, the owner of the Sun Siyam group Mr. Siyam won the award; World Tourism Pioneer.
World Travel Awards have been dubbed the Oscars of the travel industry and has been labelled as the holy grail, the highest of honors since its inception 23 years ago.
