Maldives Immigration has officially announced the cessation of the traveller declaration form requirement for Maldivian citizens entering or leaving the country. The decision, effective immediately, was made by the Controller General of Immigration, Mohamed Sham’aan Waheed, on Monday.
Initially introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, the traveller declaration form necessitated submitting personal information through Immigration’s IMUGA portal. However, following complaints about the inconvenience during travel, Sham’aan Waheed, who was appointed the Controller General of Immigration on Sunday, decided to discontinue the requirement.
The move aims to improve the overall travel experience for Maldivian citizens.
