ITB China has announced the Maldives as the Official Partner Destination for ITB China 2024, which will take place from 27 to 29 May in Shanghai. This partnership aims to draw more Chinese tourists to the Maldives, highlighting the island nation’s appeal within China’s outbound travel market.
“We are thrilled and honoured to be the Official Partner Destination of ITB China 2024,” said Fathmath Thaufeeq, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), the national tourism promotion body of the Maldives. “This partnership provides an excellent opportunity to engage with our global partners and the Chinese travel trade, share updates about our tourism products, and showcase the unique beauty of the Maldives. It reinforces our position as a top destination for travellers from China and worldwide,” Thaufeeq added.
The Maldives, known globally for its stunning natural beauty, pristine beaches, and luxurious resorts, will be showcased in ITB China’s largest national pavilion. Over 40 Maldivian travel companies will participate as co-exhibitors during the three-day B2B event.
During the event, MMPRC will host various activities at its booth to promote its vibrant tourism offerings. Attendees can engage in B2B meetings and interviews to learn more about “Maldives…The Sunny Side of Life” and plan their ideal tropical getaway. ITB China attendees will also experience the Maldives’ culture and heritage through gastronomical and cultural displays.
Throughout the trade show, MMPRC will provide information on the latest tourism products, services, and experiences through promotional materials and face-to-face interactions. A press conference is scheduled for the first day of ITB China, offering a significant opportunity for media engagement. These initiatives aim to give Chinese travellers a glimpse of the Maldives experience, foster connections, and promote dialogue within the global travel and tourism industry.
For 2024, MMPRC has planned numerous activities targeting the Chinese travel market, including an e-learning campaign, digital promotions on leading Chinese apps, outdoor marketing initiatives, joint promotional campaigns, familiarization trips, social media campaigns, and participation in various fairs and exhibitions.
The resumption of flights, along with renewed marketing efforts in China, is expected to yield positive outcomes for the Maldives tourism industry, further enhancing its reputation as a sought-after destination for Chinese travellers.
