Maldives Participates in COTTM 2017

A delegation of 37 participants from 18 different companies in the Maldives tourism and hospitality industry is participating in China’s no.1 B2B fair, China Outbound Travel and Tourism Market (COTTM) 2017 being held in Beijing, China.

The fair, which began on 29th March and will conclude tomorrow on 31st March, exhibited Maldives colorfully and conducted various activities such as Dhivehi calligraphy, and invited visitors to experience ‘the sunny side of life’. The delegation will also meet and discuss future investment opportunities with potential venture capitalists, and share news about further developments in the industry with the media.

China is the largest tourist market for Maldives, with 324,326 visitors the previous year, and also shows a steady increase this year with a 23% increased number of Chinese visitors in January 2017. Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Fukang has also announced in January 2017 that Chinese national airline, Air China, is preparing to begin direct flights between Maldives and Beijing.
